Toys R Us confirms it will carry SNES Classic on launch day following bankruptcy report
We encourage customers to get in line before doors open’
Following Toys R Us’ announcement that it was filing for bankruptcy protection, the company has confirmed it will still carry Nintendo’s SNES Classic when it launches this month.
A representative from the company told Polygon the SNES Classic will be available when it launches Sept. 29 and the company isn’t expecting any delays in shipment. The representative said Toys R Us would have a limited supply of SNES Classic consoles.
“Stores will open at normal time and have limited inventory of the console, so we encourage customers to get in line before doors open on Friday morning for the chance to scoop up this hot item,” the rep said.
A statement from Toys R Us this morning explained the financial situation the company faces. Dave Brandon, CEO and chairman of Toys R Us, thanked vendors like Nintendo, saying everything would be business as usual during the holiday season.
“We also appreciate the strong support our investors have provided over time and the constructive role they are playing in this process that will allow us to create a brighter future for our company,” Brandon said.
Toys R Us previously confirmed that it would be carrying the SNES Classic in August, but wouldn’t be offering pre-orders of the console.
